Small Acts Mending Circle is a new fortnightly meet-up, a place to sit together and work on mending moth eaten or worn-out clothes. Led by facilitator and textile artist Rhona Jack, we’ll focus on repairing holes while also strengthening the surrounding cloth and creating visible repairs that celebrate the history of the garment.

Please bring along an item of clothing that you wish to repair, this could be an old knitted jumper, a holey pair of socks, torn jeans or a well-worn jacket. You’ll be advised by Rhona on techniques for repairing each garment and learn together through making. Materials will be provided, but please bring along threads/fabrics if you have something specific in mind.

No experience required, just an interest in slow making and a desire to learn. If you are an expert darner we would also love to have you join us and share your expertise with the group! We hope to build a community where we can share skills through peer-to-peer learning and support each other to give new life to worn out garments.

Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge for participation or booking required.

Situated within Coorie Saturdays, there will be lots of free coffee, tea, juice and biscuits available and other free activities to get involved with throughout the day.

The Mending Circle is a part of the wider Small Acts project.
