Children’s Art Club is our artist-led creative programme for 5–12-year-olds that runs during school holidays. With a different Lead Artist each week, participants are introduced to different art forms and creative thinking that encourages them to fully express themselves in a joyful space. Art activities often connect to our outdoor spaces as well as inside and think about our themes of art, ecology and sustainability. Activity planned by the lead artist encourages thinking, playfulness and creativity by exploring different art forms and responding to the children’s interests.
Summer Art Club will run for four weeks during the school holidays this year:
Week One: Mon 6 – Thu 9 July

Week Two: Mon 13 – Thu 16 July
Join Alice Dansey-Wright for a week of making inspired by Model Villages. We will learn printing, painting, sculpting and construction techniques and there will be the opportunity to bring all our work together to create our own village at the end of the process. Each day will have a different focus so those attending can enjoy coming along just for one day or can take part in the full week. Our focus will be imagination and play but we’ll also look at the work of artists working with scale models and objects in their practices.
Week Three: Mon 20 – Thu 23 July
Join Frieda Ford for a week of costume and puppetry inspired by the beings (both magical and real) that surround Forgan Arts Centre. We will work with a broad range of techniques including using natural materials, making large scale creatures, moving puppets and even some live green screening to explore how art can be something that is worn and movable.
Week Four: Mon 10 – Thu 13 August
Join Eva Jack for a week of hands-on history, where we will bury a time capsule in the garden at Forgan Arts. We will collect and create artefacts and stories, blurring the lines between the real and imagined, the past and future!
