Soil Health: Citizen Science

Soil Health: Citizen science
Saturday 15 November, 11am-12.30pm

Have you ever wondered how to measure soil health and how much carbon is stored in the soils beneath our feet?
In this free workshop we will be sampling soil at Forgan Arts Centre garden, checking for texture and soil organic matter as well as collecting samples to send off for lab analysis while learning how to protect and restore soil health.

Join Bob Bilson, ECHO Soil Ambassador at the Gardening For the Future session and together we will be the Citizen Scientists carrying out the testing that should take approximately 1 hour. The results will be recorded on the ECHO app on Bob’s phone and we’ll also be collecting two samples for Bob to send back to the Hutton Institute for DNA biodiversity and soil contamination analysis.
