The House That Holds:
Creative workshops for LGBTQIA+ adults
Saturdays 30 March, 6, 20, 27 April
11am-4pm, lunch provided
Through an artist led programme of workshops called The House That Holds, the Queer Makers Club will create a selection of household interiors and soft furnishings using text and visuals that embody ideas of care and rest. These items will be used to decorate and fit out The Gardener’s Cottage, a building on Forgan Arts Centre’s estate. The Gardener’s Cottage is currently being restored by artists, volunteers and craftspeople and will be used for artists whilst on residence, as well as a retreat for unpaid carers. The House That Holds workshops will practice “plork”, a concept of play and work developed by American artist and activist Corita Kent. The participants will make multi-media and textiles artworks.
Invited artists Ardis Önnerfors and Leo Valenti will lead the activities, with Ruby Pester.
Access costs for all attendees are supported, this might include travel, fuel, or other care costs, for example. Please chat to Ruby to find out how we can make it possible for you to join in: community@forganartscentre.co.uk. we will do all we can to support your participation.
