Our Independent Residencies provide opportunities for artists with their own funding to stay in The Gardener’s Cottage.
We are open to all creative disciplines, including visual art, craft, design, literature, music, academia and performance. We welcome individuals, collaborators, and collectives who can meet the costs of a residency through, for example, the support of public funders, trusts, foundations, employers or institutions.
These residencies are designed to support personal development which may include:
- Project or work development
- Reading, writing or research
- Testing or practising new approaches to making work
- Reflection on learning or existing work
Independent Residencies can take place at any time of the year, depending on availability. We are trialling week-long residencies but there is flexibility around length of stay so please talk to us if this is a barrier. Prices depend upon the length of stay and whether you are coming on your own or up to four people maximum (two bedrooms, each with a double bed).
Current prices are as follows:
- Single occupancy – £450/wk
- Two or more people – £550/wk
Check in is after 12 noon Monday and check out before 12 noon Sunday (6 nights).
