Light-Colour-Action!

Saturday 18 January

About the Workshop

This event is supported by Fife Communities Climate Action Network in collaboration with Art Moves Fife.

Artists Kate Downie & Gillian McFarland of Art Moves Fife, will be joining us for a free workshop creating an illuminating 3-D paper community of observation, memory, imagination, and possibilities for the future. This will take the final form of a tabletop or floor installation constructed of folded paper houses, landscapes, coastlines, and maps which can be rearranged, reconstructed and rebuilt, photographed and documented.
Utilising the Turkish Map fold, collage techniques, paper templates and simple mapping drawings of the area, locally known places will come alive in new and creative ways. We will add an element of light, to symbolise the positivity of community action, transforming the installation. The finished collaborative creation will be exhibited at the FCCAN* Gathering in Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries on 20th March.
Demonstrations will be at 10.15am and 1.45pm. You are welcome to stay for the full session, but please make sure to start with a demonstration, as our Artists will be in full flow out with these times!
The Coorie Community Café is also on, so you are welcome to make yourself comfortable and help yourself to free tea and coffee and biscuits.
The workshop is free, but please book a ticket so that we know how many to expect and can get in touch should we need to (eg weather cancellation)

What to Bring

All you need to bring is your thoughts on favourite places, where you live, maybe where you go to walk to, sit, or journeys you make. Wear warm clothing as the day will include some moving outside. Please let us know if you have accessibility issues in advance at info@forganartcentre.co.uk
All ages, families and children welcome. Please bring a packed lunch if you plan to stay over lunchtime.
*This workshop is being funded by Fife Communities Climate Action Network (FCCAN), who increases the capacity and confidence of community groups to take practical climate action. They offer training, advice, inspiration, funding, and signpost to places of support. You can find out more about their organisation on www.fccan.org.uk.
