Introduction to Biochar

Introduction to Biochar: What, Why, and How?

Fri 6 February, 1pm-3pm

This short introduction to Biochar will include making a batch of biochar from woodchip.
There will be an explanation of what Biochar is, what it is useful for, why we are making it and a practical, hands-on demonstration of how to go about making it.

Biochar stores carbon, increases water retention in the soil and boosts microbial activity, this session will cover what it is, how to make it and how to use it.

Thanks to funding from Fife Regional Development Fund we were able to buy a biochar kiln for the centre to use.

This event will be outdoors, please dress for the weather, if a named storm is ongoing or weather warning is in place, the event will be postponed.

This event is free, spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
