Walk the Season with Fleur Darkin
A series of four seasonal walks noticing trees, landscape and the water’s edge. An invitation to be present in the changing season with artist Fleur Darkin.
About the event
Join us for a free group walk that uses embodied and gentle physical practice to connect with the natural environment around Forgan Arts Centre.
The walk draws on mindfulness techniques found in movement practices such as breathing techniques and yoga, and takes us a distance into the landscape of forest and the river’s edge. The walks are circular, starting and ending at Forgan Arts Centre. They include some gentle hills and uneven woodland terrain. The pace will be unpressured and all participants will be encouraged to go at a consensual speed as we journey together. Led by renowned movement artist Fleur Darkin, the walks draw on diverse knowledge systems, the varied ways different cultures and communities understand and interact with their environment, and uses embodied practices and uses the body and senses to heighten sensitivity to the world around us.
The walks are social and we don’t take ourselves too seriously! Past walks have been with people at all ages and stages and it is really nice to bring people together. Everyone is warmly welcomed. Participants are invited to join us post-walk for coffee and tea.
