Tidal Vessels

Saturday 14 February, 11am-3pm

Join resident artists Caitlin and Anj Webb-Ellis, in collaboration with choreographer Lucy Suggate and visual artist Charlie Ford, for an experimental workshop exploring our relationships with the River Tay.

The workshop will include a mix of mark-making, sculpting materials alongside improvised movement practice, and creating collective scores. We will also spend some time by the River Tay. Participants will be invited to think, make and move together in a supportive environment.

Video and sound recordings made by Webb-Ellis during the workshop may be woven into a film or installation as part of their residency at Forgan Arts.

About the artists

Webb-Ellis are British/Canadian artist filmmakers. Using film, dance, music and installation, they create work which aims to offer participants and viewers ways to imaginatively access the political and philosophical, through the lens of the unconscious and the body. Webb-Ellis are Talking Forests Artists-in-Residence at Forgan Art Centre.

Lucy Suggate is a dance artist based in Yorkshire working in performance making, education dramaturgy and mentoring. Her work highlights how movement – dance – choreography can respond to the ongoing age of crisis and prolonged uncertainty, by focusing on embodied practices and the physical and perceptual shifts that occur when engaged in long-term moving and thinking.

Charlie Ford is a visual artist from Greater Manchester working across drawing, choreography and design. In the studio he maintains a rigorous drawing practice that strikes a balance between delicacy and precision, paying close attention to placement and arrangement and considering the drawing surface as a space for movement.
