Pottery: Studio Saturdays

1st & 3rd Saturday of each month

On the first and third Saturdays of each month, Studio Saturdays are a chance to create, connect, and develop your talents in pottery without joining a class. These sessions are untutored but supported by our Pottery Technician. If you are a complete beginner, we recommend you take an introductory class, but after that, you are welcome to join and keep practicing at your own pace. There will be people on hand to help you but there is no teaching at these sessions.  

Important Info 

• You must be 16+ and part of Forgan Arts Centre’s pottery class community (are currently attending or have attended a class) this is to ensure you have the right level of experience to use the studio without a tutor. 
• We cannot have younger children alone in the studio due to the risks inherent in using raw glaze chemicals, sharp tools, and electrical equipment.
• Sessions run on the first and third Saturday of each month, 10am to 3pm (centre closes at 4pm and you must be tidied well in advance).
• Price £30 for a day session (5-hour session). 
• Clay is bought through Forgan Arts Centre at reasonable prices.
• Each session includes two shared firings – one bisque firing at 1000C and one glaze firing at 1225C, conducted by our Forgan Arts Centre Ceramics staff at a later date.
• You will have maximum one kiln shelf allocated to you for each firing per month.  

Our studio is shared amongst our growing community, in order to support each other and our staff our members are expected to use the last 30 minutes of your time in the studio to keeping it clean and tidy. 

We have table space that accommodates maximum 12 people this includes 5/6 wheels.  

We are not set up to accommodate professional potters in the studio. Having one or more production potters in the studio would tie up our equipment and make it difficult for others to have access.
