Saturday 20 & Sunday 21 June, 10.30am-4.30pm
Over this weekend workshop you can learn a traditional technique to design and create your own hand-printed wallpaper. This two day workshop will be delivered by artist Zoe Gibson and you will leave with enough wallpaper to paper a small area or your home and the techniques and knowledge to keep printing!
No experience necessary, suitable for beginners or those who have experience in printmaking. All tools provided. Limited amount of wallpaper available to fit with available course time.
Day one: Firstly you will be introduced to examples and the materials. You will have the opportunity to begin designing a pattern. The you will solidify your design and begin transferring it to the lino. You will be shown how to cut your lino and begin looking at paint and colour combinations.
Day Two: Test your print design and begin experimenting with different colour combinations. Hand print your wallpaper.
What to Bring
All materials are provided but you are welcome to bring photos, drawings or sketchbooks for inspiration.
About the Tutor
Zoe Gibson is an artist and designer living and working in Dundee since she started at DJCAD in 2013. Her work is interested in the domestic and hand made and underpinned by a belief that art should be an enmeshed part of everyday surroundings.
The wallpaper technique she uses was taught to her by her auntie who in turn was taught by her great gran Peggy Angus, this family lineage of craft is constantly informing her work and the way she approaches making.
