About the workshop
Come along and learn how to make your own lampshade from scratch! Bring fabrics to match your decor, or work with fabrics provided by East Nook Studio. The workshop will begin with a demonstration by artist, Alana Peden of East Nook Studio, introducing you to the form, technique and material handling needed to make your light fitting.
Through the workshop you will make a 30cm diameter drum lampshade with a 21cm drop. Combining your fabric choices with an inner layer, shaped to ensure your creation meets fire safety. Completed lampshades can be used for standing lamp bases or for hanging ceiling pendants.
This is a quick and easy workshop that is relatively mess free. We will have lampshade kits available to purchase at the end of the session if you wish to continue to make a matching set at home.
What to bring
All materials will be provided. Students can bring fabrics to match their decor, if they wish.
We encourage you to bring a notebook or sketchbook and pen or pencil so you can take notes throughout the workshop.
