Artist Residencies

About the Artist Residency Programme

Forgan Arts Centre is a home for artistic production, experimentation, and learning and as such, offers artists time and space to develop their practice and make new work. Artist residencies at Forgan Arts Centre take various forms, from long-term employed positions to short self-funded stays. Resident artists have access to the centre’s professional facilities, tools and equipment supported by the expertise of our tutors.

We offer both awarded (funded) and independent (self-funded) residencies. Opportunities are via open call, shared on our website and social media, and by invitation.

The Gardener’s Cottage

In 2024 we completed the restoration of The Gardener’s Cottage, a self contained premises on the estate. The cottage has been renovated by local artists and craftspeople. The renovation includes restoration of the original windows, doors, and period features and there is a strong ethos of reuse and repair which aligns with our commitment to environmental sustainability. The cottage now provides accommodation for visiting artists who undertake residencies at the centre.
