Queering the Clachan

Queering the Clachan is an arts project for LGBTQ+ folk in North East Fife. We’re running workshops in towns and villages across the North East, and making space for Fife queer folk and their friends to have places to meet each other, get creative and share their stories. We want LGBTQ+ lives in North East Fife to be vibrant, connected and celebrated.

Free zine-making workshops are taking place with partners across the region from September 2025 to February 2026. Zines are little publications that anyone can make and sure: they can be as simple as a folded sheet of paper or as elaborate as a glossy magazine, using writing or photography or collage or drawing. We’re using zines to share ideas about queer life in Fife, and building up to a Fife Queer Zine Fest at Forgan in February.

Queering the Clachan is run by Harry Josephine Giles, an artist from Orkney who writes about language, ecology, activism and trans life.. As well as publishing her own books, Josie is one half of the zine publisher Easter Road Press, which has been making and sharing zines at Scottish zine fairs for the last eight years.

Would you like us to organise a workshop with you? Do you have an idea for another activity you’d like to see happen? Do you know of a great LGBTQ+project happening in fife? We’d love to hear from you at queeringtheclachan@forganartscentre.co.uk.
