Are you aged 12-16 years old and have a hobby you would love to share? It could be art, skateboarding, politics, music, nail art, manga or anything. This class gives you a chance to express yourself and your interest through a zine (self made mini magazine).
You will be creating at least one section of in a zine where you can express yourself and your interests freely. Using different techniques such as cyanotype, collage, printing with rust, creative writing and drawing, you will work as a group to make a your own Newport Youth Zine. This can then be easily reproduce zine-style to be shared in Forgan Arts Centre’s solidarity library, libraries, schools, clubs or anywhere you would like to share it!
What to Bring
All materials provided and we are trying to re-use recycle as much possible. Sessions are £10 a session and paid in a 5 week block (not running 15 May due to tutor availability).
About Tutor
KY-10’s is a comic book character created by Keny Drew, a musician and contemporary stained glass specialist who runs East Neuk Glass outside Pittenweem and Jamp, a music and art outlet based in Crail, Fife. Keny originally studied and worked in photography, moving to the hands-on approach of glass in preference to the emergence of digital technology, and works with cyanotype, zines and poster making.
