Children’s Art Club: Spring Week 2

Children’s Art Club is our playful creative programme for 5-12 year olds, led by professional artists.

Join our artists and play workers for fun and creativity during the Fife school holidays. Children will have the chance to explore diverse mediums, discover different artists, and express themselves confidently. There will be plenty of time to play in the gardens and grounds for inspiration too.

Children’s Art Club runs Monday to Thursday. Each week introduces a new project and you can book day by day or for the full week to receive 10% discount. For any queries please email programme@forganartscentre.co.uk

Week Two: Mon 13  – Thu 16 April, 9.00am-3.30pm

Join artist Dan Williams for a week of creative textile based art, dreaming up characters, making, magic and imagination.

Monday – Felt Monsters
We’ll spend the day dreaming up monsters and bringing them to life with felt, stuffing, scrap fabric and hot glue. We’ll set up a shared “monster world” space where everyone can place their creations and decide where they live.

Tuesday – Fruit Print Day
A day all about colour, pattern and fruit-inspired design. We’ll explore natural dyes and paints made from fruits and vegetables. After that, we’ll try fruit printing using cut fruit and simple lino fruit shapes, focusing on repeat patterns and playful layouts. Using these patterns we will make a fashionable bandana.

Wednesday – Magic Day
A fantasy-filled day of making, music and imagination.Kids will make star wands using sticks, cardboard stars, foil and ribbon. They’ll also create simple shaker instruments using sticks, tape and fillings like rice or beans. Wizard hats and magical accessories are decorated alongside this. We’ll introduce the idea of magic symbols and runes, then let kids invent their own and decide what they mean.

Thursday – Costume Day: Traitors’ Edition
A character-driven day that ends with a big game. Using fabric scraps, cloaks, masks and accessories, they create a costume inspired by their role. We’ll encourage them to think about how their character moves, talks and behaves — especially whether they want to look trustworthy or suspicious. The day ends with a fun game of simplified Traitors.

About the Artist

Details
What: Art, play, nature and learning for 5-12 year olds. Each day, the visiting Lead Artist for the week will spark the children’s creativity, supported by a Creative Play Worker.

When: The club runs Monday-Thursday. Drop off is from 9am-9.30am. Pick up is at 3.30pm sharp.

Cost: The club costs £38.50 per day, this includes the provision of a wide range of art materials, refreshments and snack. A limited number of free low income places are available.

What do we need to bring?
Children will need to bring their own packed lunch, as well as and an outdoor coat and sunscreen. We hope to get outside into our beautiful grounds to explore as often as possible, so please pack raincoats, as well as dressing in suitable clothing and footwear. We might get a little messy indoors too so no favourite clothes!

Suitability
The club is for all children with a love of art and crafts. Whilst Art Club is a fun, safe, supportive environment, it can be busy and noisy. We’re not a registered childcare provider and as such don’t have additional support beyond our artists and play workers. If you would like to discuss accessibility and/or attend as a carer for your child please give us a call.

Low Income Places
If you receive benefits such as income-based Council Tax, are unemployed or unable to work, these tickets are for you. There are two free places available for each session. We ask that you select one session per week, per child, so that we can share these places amongst low income families.

Please note, our Universal credit ticket no longer exists. As Universal Credit has recently restructured, our free ticket criteria has been updated to make sure that these are reaching the families who cannot afford them otherwise.
