Living Table: Imbolc

About the event

Returning to light and planting intentions for future growth and new beginnings.

Join us for a magical Imbolc celebration or ritual, cleansing, seed swapping, and feasting! The evening will begin with a warm welcome and a cleansing ritual using sage inviting us to release the old and make space for the new. We’ll share a seasonal meal together, accompanied by a poetry reading on the themes of growth and transformation. Afterward, each guest will set intentions for the coming season, writing their wishes on paper and preparing a candle to light by the fire. In a special seed sharing activity, guests will receive seeds to plant at home as a symbol of their personal intentions of growth and care. Together, we’ll walk from Forgan Arts Centre to the Boat Club where the event will close with warm drinks and a closing circle.

Contributing Artists

This year artist Désirée Coral Guerra returns to Forgan Arts Centre to curate the Imbolc celebrations. Imbolc is traditionally celebrated at the beginning of February marking the midpoint between winter and spring. Rooted in ancient Celtic traditions, it honours Brigid, the goddess of health, healing, and fertility. Imbolc celebrates light returning to the world after a long winter, purification, and renewal. Contributing artists include local artist poet and playwright, Rebecca Sharp.
