RSA Residencies for Scotland

We are delighted to share Forgan Arts Centre’s inclusion as a venue for the RSA Residencies for Scotland 2024 programme.

RSA Residencies for Scotland is an artist-led scheme which provides valuable research and residency opportunities for artists. It forges important networks with centres of artistic excellence across Scotland, ranging from traditional residency venues to specialised production facilities.

Open to visual artists at all stages of their careers, the emphasis is on enabling a period of research, development and production, as well as on the acquisition and exchange of new skills and experiences. Artists can apply for funds of up to £5,000 and are responsible for managing their own residency.

As a new addition to the portfolio organisations, we’re keen to share this opportunity far and wide. Full information about our facilities, venue accessibility, accommodation, and support on offer is available on the RSA’s website and guidelines for applicants can be downloaded below. If you have any questions, please contact our Director, Jennifer White, director@forganartscenmtre.co.uk.

Residencies for Scotland is administered and funded by the Royal Scottish Academy with kind support from the The Barns-Graham Trust and the W. Gordon Smith & Jay Gordonsmith Trust.

Deadline: Sunday 14 January 2024, 5pm

Image shows installation by artist Henri Meadows. Installation titled ‘Conditions of Change’ and shows a reconstructed form made from a milled cedar tree. The tree was part of the mature woodland surrounding Forgan Arts Centre. Last year it was discovered that it had been poisoned and was dying. For health and safety reasons it was felled. The tree was over 100 years old.
