Introduction to Wheel Throwing

About the Workshop
This workshop introduces participants to the basics of throwing on the potters wheel. This ceramics course offers the chance for beginners and intermediate students to learn to throw and develop skills under supervision from an experienced tutor. All work will be fired after the class and be available to pick up at a later date.
Course Content and Structure:
Introduction to clay, clay preparation and tools, the basic principles of centring, opening up, pulling up and finishing techniques.
What to Bring
Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Clay will wash off fine, but can get messy on the day! Please remember to bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee is available at the centre.
About your Tutor
Kevin Andrew Morris is an artist based in Aberdeen working across Scotland. Kevin graduated with BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design in 2010 from The Glasgow School of Art and has since exhibited nationally and internationally and on various public projects. he works with themes of heritage making narrative work that considers traditional and contemporary practice exploring the links between identity, place, material and craft, through slip casting and atmospheric firing. Integral to his practice is participation and engagement. Kevin greatly values opportunities to continue to learn alongside others.
