Young Artists Club
Workshop Leader

Forgan Arts Centre (FAC) is seeking to recruit experienced workshop leaders across contemporary and traditional arts and crafts, as well as forestry and horticulture.

FAC’s Young Arts Club is a series of weekly workshops for 12-16 year olds taking place across July and August. We are interested in proposals for workshops aimed specifically at this age group that offer quality arts, crafts, and outdoor activities. FAC recently moved into its new premises in Newport-on-Tay where the grounds, garden, and centre offer more space and better facilities for delivering our annual programme. We are especially interested in workshops that involve:

  • Painting, drawing, and printmaking

  • Textiles, sewing, and design

  • Horticulture, forestry, and woodwork

  • Drama, performance, and circus

  • Music and singing

  • Creative writing

Workshop Leaders are tasked with devising an engaging arts, crafts, or garden-based workshop for young people aged 12-16 years for one 3-hour workshop. The maximum capacity of each workshop is between 8-10 young people depending on the activity. The workshops do not need to be output focused. The focus should be on process as well as having fun!

Workshop leaders will have support from centre staff with set up, purchasing materials, and general administration and coordination.

Applications should be sent to Centre Director Jen White,, and should comprise:

  • A brief description of the planned workshop activity (max 250 words per workshop) which should include the art form, theme, or area of exploration, what the young people might do.

  • Materials list and room requirements. This does not need to be exact, an outline of what you need will help us assess associated cost as well as what furniture you need (tables/chairs etc.) or if this is an outdoor activity.

  • A CV that demonstrates previous experience in similar roles, both devising and delivering activities.

  • The contact details of one referee that we may contact if your application is successful. The referee may be a previous employer, peer, or another artist.

  • Applicants must be PVG Scheme Members.
